Week 5 Cards

Card 1- Nested Hearts

For week 5 I used the Spellbinders Nested Hearts to design this card. The paper is from Kaisercrafts English Rose collection and the ink is Tim Holtz distress ink - Aged Mahogany. It was one of those cards that once I started making the kits, I started saying "why did I do this???" I had something like 56 hearts to cut out on the Cuttlebug and then I inked about half of them prior to class to save on time.

I made a bow from white satin to go in the middle and attached a brad to the centre of the bow. Wasn't that fun girls!! LOL The tag was stamped with a Kaisercraft stamp.

Card 2 - Seaside Lighthouse

I really love this card, but then I love anything nautical. The cardstock is Bazzill Basics french vanilla and I layered it using Kaisercrafts Seaside collection of papers. The 3D is a Le Suh sheet and it has two different lighthouses on it. I just love it!

I inked around the edgeds of all 3 pieces and also added extra card behind them as support, as most of this card is put together with foam tape. The red (Umbrella) and blue (Escape) papers are attached with foam tape. I tied a Garrick Bend knot to go down the side and this is attached to the back of the red paper.

A Just Rite stamp in the top corner and I think this is a perfect card for the older man in your life.

August Challenge

Thank you to everyone who entered the August Challenge. The theme was "Beautiful Borders" and I think it was quite a challenge as we didn't get as many entries as usual. We did get some gorgeous cards though and the winner this time was   Glenda   with her stunning ivory and gold card using the Quickutz Die - Petite Petals. Congratulations Glenda, you now have a $20 voucher to spend in store.   Here is Glenda's winning card     The encouragement award this month goes to Jean Riches for her lovely use of the Marianne Die to create a fan. What a great idea! The die itself is gorgeous but teamed up with this beautiful Martha Stewart punched border and hand made flowers, it's beautiful. Well done Jean.     This card was also made by Glenda and it takes the theme of borders out of the box, by using flowers as the border. Clever idea!   Rhonda's card using one of my favourite dies in turquoise and white, again with some lovely p
